Ingredients:
6 cups of cubed stale bread (preferably French or Italian)
2 cups of milk
1/2 cup of heavy cream
3/4 cup of sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup of raisins (optional)
2 tbsp butter (melted)
For the Vanilla Sauce:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Prepare the Bread Pudding:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, milk, and heavy cream. Let it sit for 10 minutes to soak.
In another bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
Pour the egg mixture over the soaked bread, and add raisins (if using). Gently stir everything together until well combined.
Transfer the mixture into the greased baking dish. Drizzle melted butter on top.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the pudding is golden brown and set in the center.
Make the Vanilla Sauce:
While the bread pudding bakes, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Add sugar and cream, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens slightly.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Serve:
Allow the bread pudding to cool slightly. Drizzle the warm vanilla sauce over each serving and enjoy!
